We’re inviting you to take part in the 2026 Golden Horseshoes Art Competition — a celebration of creativity, community, and the resilient spirit that has shaped Beechworth through the ages.
Let your imagination shine as you explore the theme:
“Gold, Grit & Pioneers – Beechworth's Resilience Through Time.”
Think gold rush days, trailblazers, community strength, and the determination that keeps Beechworth glowing bright through history and today.
All entries will be celebrated as part of our Festival display, showcasing the incredible imagination and resilience of our local young artists.

Golden Horseshoes Award Categories

CRITERIA

Artists must be of school age (Kindergarten, Primary School, High School) and reside in our local 3747 postcode

Create your artwork in any medium inspired by the theme: Gold, Grit & Pioneers – Beechworth's Resilience Through Time.

Ensure your artwork has your name, age, school and contact details on the back

Adhere to all terms and conditions listed below

Artworks will need to be dropped off to designated collection point - Mikes Beechworth Bazaar (58 FORD ST) between 21st of February and 4th of March 2026

Terms & Conditions for Art Competition
Eligibility:

The competition is open to school aged children (Kindergarten, Primary School and High School) at the time of entry.

Participants must reside in the 3747 postcode.
Theme:
-
All entries must align with the theme: “Gold, Grit & Pioneers – Beechworth's Resilience Through Time".
Submission Guidelines:
-
All mediums (paint, sculpture, craft etc) accepted
-
Artworks will need to be dropped off to designated collection point - Mikes Beechworth Bazaar (58 FORD ST) between 21st of February and 4th of March 2026

Entries close the 4th of March 2026

Submissions must have artists name, age, school and contact details on the back

Only one entry per participant is allowed.

The poster must be the original work of the participant. No copyrighted images, logos, or material from other sources should be used.
Judging Criteria:

Entries will be judged on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall design.

The judges’ decision is final and cannot be contested.
Prizes:
-
Winners will be awarded a winner certificate, art prize, and an invitation to return as a guest judge for next year’s competition.

Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other alternatives.
Copyright and Usage:

By entering the competition, participants grant the Golden Horseshoes Festival the right to display artwork and take photos of artwork from promotional purposes.

All artwork remains the property of contestants and will need to be collected from the collection point after the festival
Parental Consent:

All participants must have the consent of a parent or guardian to enter the competition.

By submitting an entry, parents or guardians agree to these Terms & Conditions on behalf of the participant.
Disqualification:
-
The Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festival reserves the right to refuse any artwork deemed inappropriate, offensive, or not in keeping with the spirit of the competition. While creativity and humour are encouraged, entries should remain respectful and suitable for a family-friendly public display.

Any entry that does not comply with these Terms & Conditions may be disqualified at the discretion of the competition organizers.
