What is the Golden Horseshoes Festival?
Over the Easter long weekend, Beechworth’s historic streets and beautiful town centre come alive for the Golden Horseshoes Festival - a much-loved community celebration filled with entertainment, activities and plenty of Easter fun for all ages.
With an exciting program of events and attractions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Wander through the historic precinct, explore local stalls, discover delicious food and drink, enjoy live music and performances, and keep the kids entertained with family-friendly activities throughout the festival.
One of the highlights of the weekend is the iconic Grand Parade, bringing the streets of Beechworth to life with colourful floats, marching bands, performers, vintage vehicles, community groups and plenty of creativity. With a proud history of parades in Beechworth, it’s a spectacular celebration of our town, our people and our community spirit.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can soak up the atmosphere of historic Beechworth, discover local businesses and attractions, and enjoy the unique character of one of Victoria’s most beautiful gold-rush towns.
When is the Golden Horseshoes Festival?
The Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festival is held annually over the Easter Long Weekend.
In 2027 the Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festival will be held Easter Saturday, 27 March 2027.
The official program of events will take place from Good Friday to Easter Sunday in the main festival precinct surrounding the main cross roads of Ford and Camp Street Beechworth.
Some smaller events run by local community groups (held in various locations) will continue into Easter Monday.

The Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festival is held over the cross roads of Ford Street and Camp Street in Beechworth town centre. Keep an eye out for our social media posts on road closures closer to the event or contact us for more information.
How much is entry?
Entry is free! Our community-run festival is free for everyone to enjoy.
The majority of activities held during the Beechworth Golden Horseshoes Festical are free to visitors, however there are some activities that have a cost associated such as the petting animal farm and face painting.

Where do I get information during the event?
Event information will be available from our community volunteers who man our festival information kiosk located on Camp Street located between the Beechworth Bakery and the Beechworth Gold Shop and the friendly staff at the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre located at 103 Ford St, Beechworth, as well as general information on visiting Beechworth.
what do i need to know about the grand parade?
Grand Parade When: Easter Saturday at 2pm
Where: The parade route follows Ford St from The Beechworth Honey Shop to the Beechworth Old Gaol.
For safety, all spectators must stay behind the taped off areas along the parade route during the parades. Accessible viewing areas will be designated - see our accessibility page more information.
Where are the public toilets located?
Public toilets and disabled toilets are located behind the memorial hall on Ford Street. Access is available between the Freemans on Fords B&B and the Memorial Hall or the Library.

where is the first aid station?
First Aid will be on site during the festival and will be in the centre of Ford Street and Camp Street near the kiosk.
Will there be drinking water available?
The North East Water Hydration Station is available in the festival precinct on Camp Street.

Several road closures and detours will be in place in the Beechworth CBD on Easter Saturday.
Public transport – disruption to bus services
